Supabet: How Account Verification Works for Canadian Players

Almost every complaint about a slow payout turns out to be a complaint about verification. The queue does not start until the file is complete, and files are rarely complete on the first attempt.

This covers a Supabet account specifically, but the same rules govern most operators taking Canadian players.

How Long Your Documents Are Kept

Retention rules follow the operator’s licence, and five years after your last transaction is the common floor; many keep seven. Closing the account does not wipe the file. Canadian privacy law is a weaker lever here than people assume: PIPEDA covers organizations operating in Canada, so it reaches an Ontario-registered site more readily than a Curaçao one, and it gives you a right of access rather than a general right to erasure. What you can ask any operator is who the third-party verification provider is, where the images are stored, and whether they sit in encrypted storage rather than a shared support inbox. Vague answers are their own signal.

If Your Verification Is Refused

Ask in writing which document failed and on which field; a generic refusal is not an answer and support can be more precise than that. Resubmit only the failing item with the defect corrected. If two rounds go nowhere, escalate through the operator’s complaints procedure, then to the regulator or dispute service named in the terms, quoting ticket numbers and upload dates. Never open a second account to get around a block — duplicate accounts are grounds for voiding a balance and will close the door on the original account as well.

Documents Not in English or French

A passport from any ICAO member state is machine-readable and passes without help, since the code strip at the bottom carries your name and date of birth in Latin characters. Problems start with the address proof: a utility bill in Mandarin, Tagalog or Ukrainian usually needs a certified translation from ATIO in Ontario, OTTIAQ in Quebec, STIBC in BC or ATIA in Alberta, attached beside the original. Do not translate it yourself and never send the translation alone; reviewers read both side by side. Budget C$30 to C$60 per page and three business days. Ask support whether their provider reads the language; several handle Spanish and Portuguese in house.

Verification Comes Back Around After a Year

Files go stale. Most operators refresh identity records every 12 to 24 months, and an address document dated 2024 no longer satisfies a check run in 2026. The prompt usually arrives as a banner at login or a request when the next withdrawal is raised, with 7 to 14 days to comply before the account is restricted. Larger accounts get enhanced due diligence instead, which repeats the source-of-funds questions in more detail. Some operators pair the refresh with a responsible-gambling review and will ask about deposit limits or a cooling-off period at the same time. Answer both parts; ignoring the message is what freezes balances.

Keep a Record of Every Upload

Build a small folder before you send anything. Save each file with the date and purpose in the name, note the ticket number and timestamp of every submission, and screenshot the confirmation page. When a support agent says a document was never received in week two, that log settles it in one message. Add a light watermark across the copy reading “for verification only” with the date — it does not bother the reviewer and makes a stolen scan harder to reuse. Then clear the originals out of your phone’s camera roll and downloads folder, and never email documents to an address a chat agent typed in.

When No Bill Is in Your Name

Address proof assumes a household where the utilities are yours. Plenty of Canadian players live with family, sublet, or rent a room where nothing is billed to them, and the standard document list simply does not exist for them. Operators accept alternatives more often than they advertise: a bank statement, a mobile phone account, a tax slip, an insurance certificate, a signed lease, or correspondence from a provincial body. Ask support which of these the licence permits before uploading three documents that will all be refused for the same reason.

None of this is difficult; it is detail work that punishes shortcuts. Spend twenty minutes early and the money moves when you ask for it.
